Louis Henry Weitekamp passed away on Friday, January 23, at Concordia Village in Springfield, IL. He was born on June 18, 1943, to John F. and Evelyn M. (Stieren) Weitekamp in Litchfield, IL. He and his siblings grew up on a farm near Farmersville, IL. He attended St. Isidore Grade School and graduated from Farmersville High School. He furthered his education by attending SIU, earning a degree in Architectural Drafting and Design.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy (Goby) Weitekamp. He is also survived by two sons: Jay A. (Kelly) Weitekamp of Richmond, KY, and Aaron M. (Julie) Weitekamp of Littleton, MA; six grandchildren: Abigail (Ethan) Snider, Annalyn, Cecilia, Aaron, Jack, and Thomas Weitekamp; six siblings: Marilyn (Jim) Grossman of Brownstown Twp., MI, Frank (Karen) Weitekamp of Tucson, AZ, Gloria (Dave) Slightom of Joliet, IL, Diane (Dave) Lentz of Browning, MO, David (Pam) Weitekamp of Nokomis, IL, and Lynn (Shelley) Weitekamp of Farmersville.
Lou enjoyed gardening, especially producing berries of all kinds. He was active in the church, serving as an elder, chairman, and on the mission team. He served on the local rural electric co-op (RECC) board for many years. He loved people and instinctively sought out those who needed his help. He had a servant’s heart and will be greatly missed.
A memorial reception will be held Friday, January 30 at EverTrue Concordia Village, Springfield from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Community of Faith Church in Raymond, IL.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon, followed by the funeral service, burial, and a meal.
